STUDENTS' MOBILITIES
Cubillos travels to Strzyzowice. 9th-16th March 2019
TRAVELLING TO POLAND
A group of 17 students and 3 teachers travelled from Cubillos to Strzyzowice. It was a long trip but we were all very excited.
We arrived on Saturday evening and we spent some time on Sunday meeting the hosting families and the area.
TAKING PART ON THE SCHOOL DAILY ROUTINES
We had the opportunity to live and work with a group of Polish students. We started with some games to get to know each other and we cooperated in some other activities.
ENVIRONMENT ACTIVITIES
We performed different activities related to taking care of the environment:
-"We are the forest", in which we cooperated to draw and colour some posters with "human trees" and messages in English, Spanish and Polish to take care of the plants, forests and nature in general.
-We visited the forest in Siewierz to learn about how people protect trees and wild animals in Silesian region.
-We planted some trees in the school playground.
CULTURAL HERITAGE ACTIVITIES
We had the opportunity to visit some of the most important sites and museums within the Silesian region to learn about recent history and we cultural heritage:
-Bedzin castle and underground visit.
-Tarnowskie Góry silver mine.
-Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park.
-Katowice Art and History Museum.
-Ogrodzieniec castle.
We also took part on some workshops in which we created some hay animals and leather keyrings in a traditional way.
Besides, the school from Strzyzowice also performed some traditional songs and dances in a very special welcoming act.

TRAVELLING TO SPAIN
A group of 15 students and 3 teachers travelled to Cubillos from Strzyzowice. It was a long trip but we were all very excited.
We arrived at Cubillos on Sunday afternoon and we spent some time that day meeting the hosting families and the area.
CULTURAL HERITAGE ACTIVITIES
We experienced the cultural heritage of El Bierzo from the first day of our visit. On Sunday afternoon some Templar Knights came to the wooden huts where most of us were staying and they performed a great exhibition.
During the week, we had some activities at school and visited some of the most important sites in the area:
-Traditional games and sports (lucha leonesa)
-Explanation of food products from the area through a Escape Room in the school
-Ponferrada Castle and river Sil bank
-Pozo Julia (coal mine)
-Castro de Chano
-Médulas (Roman gold open-pit mine)
-Traditional cooking workshop (bollos preñados)

ENVIRONMENT ACTIVITIES
We performed different activities related to taking care of the environment:
-"Plant for the Planet". We visited the webpage with the same name and joined the initiative of planting more trees in the area to save our planet. To do that, we had dried fruit seeds and we planted them in diferent parts of our town.
-We studied and labelled the trees around the school in Cubillos (wooden signs where made by local workers)
-We created a decalogue in three languages (English, Polish and Spanish) with the top ten ideas to take care of our environment. We made big posters and now they are hung at both schools and other social buildings in the area. Besides, they were also sent to other schools to let them know about our project and the importance of taking care of our environment.
